In another universe, layered on top of ours but unreachable, a girl must make a dangerous journey north to save her world, and ultimately all worlds. Philip Pullman's Northern Lights is such an evocative book, and Lyra's journey by river and by sea is one steeped in fear, dread, excitement and wonder.
This blend is a deep black mix of Bluefaced Leicester and baby Alpaca, making it strong, soft, luxurious and warm. These depths are highlighted by flashes of aquamarine flax and deep sea-green silk, as well as beautiful bronze sparkly stellina. It's a real treat.
This is a lovely mix of Bluefaced Leicester, baby Alpaca, Mulberry Silk, linen and a merino/stellina mix. Bluefaced Leicster is a wonderful wool to work with. It has a long staple, and is next to skin soft, as well as being extremely strong and warm.
Baby Alpaca is downy soft with a soft halo when spun up, and is also very light and warm, thanks to its hollow construction. The addition of linen adds a lovely lightness to the end fibre too - it has a nice, slightly crisp texture, which softens with use (although it is not really rough to begin with). The Mulberry silk adds a little luxury and drape, and the stellina catches the light and makes the whole blend sparkle.
Each braid is 100g. The blend is:
33% Bluefaced Leicester
17% Baby Alpaca
17% A-grade Mulberry silk
